Your Story is Our History

  Reflecting on 50 years- 1976-2026

Were you part of the formation of our Library District? Did you or your children attend our programs? Whether you’ve been visiting for decades or just discovered us, your stories make us who we are! 

Three Rivers Library has been providing stories to you for five decades; now we would love for you to share your story! We are collecting these library moments and stories, whether big or small, recent or decades old; every memory collected helps tell the rich history of the library.

Three Rivers Public Library District is egg-cited to launch a yearlong, communitywide scavenger hunt to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the library and our incredible communities. It’s free and easy to join in the fun!  

Complete missions, including trivia, location-based challenges, photo challenges, and more, to earn points and win prizes!

All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate! Once you join the experience, on your own or as a team, you will see missions that have been designed for a variety of ages – select and complete the ones that interest you. New missions will be added to the GooseChase app throughout the year, so be sure to check back often for new opportunities to play.

Quickstart:

Use our join code to grab the app and join the experience, or if you already have the app, take you right to the experience!

Manual Mode:

On your smart mobile device, download the FREE Goosechase App and sign up for an account.
Search for Book It Around Minooka to join the challenge 
Create a team of one (that’s you) or create a team with friends.

Capture Our History Photo Contest

In honor of our 50th anniversary, photographers of all ages are invited to participate in this community-wide photo contest! Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just love capturing memories, this is your chance to show off your talent and celebrate our library’s history.

Start capturing now; any photo featuring Three Rivers Library is fair game! Be sure to view the contest rules on the entry form.

Eligibility:

Community members of any age are invited to participate. You must be the photographer or the owner of the original physical/digital photo who has the right to share it with the library. 

Entry Limit:

Up to three (3) entries per person – plenty of chances to submit your best shots.

Judging:

Based on the number of total entries received, judges will select winners based on creativity, historical significance, and overall visual appeal. Maximize your chances by entering all 3 of your allowed photos!

Winners:

Winner(s) will be notified mid-November. Winner(s) must be able to pick up prizes in person at the library.  Prizes cannot be mailed.


Photos will be displayed in the library starting mid-November 2026.

    • We want you to be creative with this part. As long as some part of either library is in the frame of your photo (and at least recognizable as such!), it's eligible.  Some examples to get you started:

      • You have a historical photo from the grand opening of the Channahon location in 1981!
      • You have a photo of you in 2001 when you got your first library card
      • You took a photo of your child at today's Storytime
      • You love the way the light is hitting your hitting your Summer Reading mug next to your open book at the breakfast table
      • Your dog fell asleep on top of your library book

      Think outside the box! We want to see how the library reaches into your everyday lives.

      1. Be sure to fill out the entry form for each photo you are submitting.
      2. Bring a print copy of your photo with submission form to the Circulation Desk at either Three Rivers Library location OR submit a JPEG version of your photo along with a PDF of the completed submission form to [email protected] with the subject line PHOTO CONTEST.
      3. Printed photos must be between the sizes of 5"x7" and 8"x10" inches.
      4. Digital entries must be a JPEG file, maximum 1200 pixels on the longest side.
    • Yes! As long as your digital photo follows the entry rules, you can submit your digital photo via email.

      To submit a digital photo, download and fill out the entry form.

      Be sure your digital photo is:

      1. Maximum 1200 pixels on the longest side
      2. JPEG file type

      Email your digital photo entry and completed entry form to [email protected] by October 31, 2026.
