Learn about the history of calligraphy, followed by a class on the traditional Chinese calligraphy basics.

Join artist Jojo Liu in this beginner's Chinese calligraphy program.  Jojo will talk about the history of calligraphy, followed by a class on the traditional Chinese calligraphy basics, including how to hold a brush, write basic strokes, and write stokes while standing. No prior knowledge is required to participate in this class, but you will need the following supplies if you wish to follow along:  calligraphy brush, ink, and paper. 

This presentation will be done virtually by Zoom.  Please register for this program to be sent the login information and instructions for Zoom.

About the library

Opened in 1981, the Channahon Library contains collections for adults, children, and teens; access to public computers, fax, and scanning; and a teen room.  It serves as the administrative headquarters of the library district.
