Meeting Room - Minooka BranchMichelle Nichols from the Adler Planetarium will relive the Space Race and provide an in-depth look at images and information that have only come to light in the last twenty years.
In the 1960s, the U.S. and the Soviet Union were locked in a race to send men to the Moon. How did it all begin? How did the Soviets try to beat the Americans? And, what happened to the Soviet effort after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the Moon in July 1969? This year marks 50 years of human space flight, and Michelle Nichols from the Adler Planetarium will relive the Space Race and provide an in-depth look at images and information that, in many cases, have only come to light in the last twenty years. Registration Required.
Registration required for EACH person attending. Kids under the age of 10 are not permitted in adult programs.

About the library
The former Minooka Masonic Hall re-opened as the Minooka Branch of the Three Rivers Public Library District in 1992.
The library contains collections for adults, children, and teens; access to public computers, fax, and scanning; and a public meeting room.
